February 24th, 2010 5 comments

I’m 15.
6 foot 3.
215 Pounds.
Not fat but i have the kind of body that naturally holds a small belly and slight love handles. Northern European Genes or something. Itl go when i work out. ANYWAY!
Big frame, bigger than most grown men.
Now list alot as my area might not have that particular style.
Sambo or systema looked really cool.
I want a martial art that suits me.
I’m more interested in knocking out out and throwing you around like a ragdoll than kicking you in the face.
thanks!

Which Martial Art Should I Study In?

I’ve been into taekwondo before and I didn’t much care for it at all. It seemed more leaning towards showing off than anything and everyone there treated anyone but higher belts like **** and the instructors seemed to encourage it. Perhaps it was a bad place to learn but from Taekwondo demonstrations and such I don’t see me of a practical use for it.
Which Martial art would teach me how to use my whole body Not specializing in grabs, punch, kicking individually but teaches as a whole if that makes sense.
I mean; when it comes down to real life self defense I’d like to be able to know exactly what to do in any situation rather than have to work my way to set myself up for a specific maneuver of sorts.
I’m not interested in weapons too much but in combat I always viewed speed and endurance over brute power.
Knowing this which martial art should I look into?

Martial Art: Karate Or Jujitsu?

February 18th, 2010 No comments

ive found this info on my local pcyc website
Karate Unarmed martial-arts discipline employing kicking, striking,
and defensive blocking with arms and legs. Emphasis is on
concentrating as much of the body’s power as possible at the point and
instant of impact. Striking surfaces include the hands (particularly the
knuckles and the outer edge), ball of the foot, heel, forearm, knee, and
elbow. www.goshinryu.com
• Ju-Jitsu is the ancient martial art of the legendary Samurai. It can be
traced back to at least 2,500 years ago in Japan. In Japanese
mythology it is said to have been used by the gods Kajima and
Kadorai to discipline the lawless inhabitants of the Eastern
provinces. Jujitsu encompasses throws, locks, and striking techniques,
with a strong emphasis on throws, locks, and defensive techniques.
It is also characterized by in-fighting and close work. It is a circular,
hard/soft, external style.
They both sound really intresting and i cant decide, What do u think is better? and does jujitsu have too many throws?
