I just read someone’s answer on here and they said if you have a tattoo it increases your risk of getting skin cancer.
This is false, right?

There isn’t enough conclusive evidence to support that claim. You do run the risk of infections, and if you were developing a skin condition in the area of your tattoo it would be more difficult to tell, but there just haven’t been enough studies done on the subject. Typically health professionals to agree that repeatedly stabbing your skin with a needle and introducing a foreign substance has the potential to cause problems, but there aren’t any solid statistics one way or another. There are millions of people out there of varying ages with various ages of tattoos who do not have skin cancer though. That should be comforting.
You know what does cause skin cancer though? Tans. I’llI never understand people.

Definately false, however if it’s a UV tattoo that matter is still controversial. There’s no evidence that the usual tattoo inks cause cancer. In our modern society a large percentage of people have tattoos, so if that were true it would be a very strong cause for concern. Do not worry.

Sorry Mate but it is true. The problem does not come from the sun but from the ink. The inks used are not approved for injection, none are. Everyone custom mixes their colors and the guys I know will use car paint (the base pigment) if it makes the color they want… That said I figure the risk of HepC or HIV is what I am careful about…

I agree with Polpota’s answer. I come from a long line of bikers everybody I know has at lest one tattoo. My grandmother has a tat she got when she was 14 years old and has had no problems at all. If you do everything you are told to do to cear for your tattoo you should have no problem.

And those people that say that are trolls.
It’s tanning that causes skin cancer. LOL and as Sand said you do risk getting another tattoo. They are addictive.
